The Khmer Empire was an ancient kingdom of Southeast Asia, the capital of which was in Angkor, Cambodia.

It was first established during the 6th century, and was later divided in the 8th century. However, it was later re-united under the rule of Jayavarman II in the 9th century.

This civilisation was largely formed by Indian influences, ranging from the political system to the religion of this ancient society.
